First Africa Playoffs to be organized in 2024

RABAT (11th July, 2024) — Les Petits As announces the organization of the first Playoffs in Africa from October 28 to November 1 in Rabat, Morocco.

Les Petits As – Le Mondial Wilson is the most prestigious junior tennis event (14&Under) in the world. Since its first edition in 1983, the tournament has welcome the greatest champions such as: Michael Chang, Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Justine Henin, Kim Clijsters, Martina Hingis and more recently Alexander Zverev, Hogler Rune, Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek.

The best players (born in 2011 and after) from every country in the continent will play the Africa Playoffs. In total, 32 boys and 32 girls will compete in a round robin format (group matches), followed by quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. The winners and finalists of the event will qualify for Les Petits As – Le Mondial Wilson next January in France.

The event will be hosted in the WIFAQ at Rabat in Morocco and will be part of the CAT Junior Tour for the next 3 years. « Les Petits As is the greatest junior tennis event, and it seemed natural for us to host the Africa Playoffs in Morocco. We have extensive experience in organizing international events on the continent. Rabat is the perfect place to hold these Playoffs; the club already hosts prestigious events such as a WTA 250,” explains Hicham Chitaoui, communications manager at the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation.

« When we started looking for a hosting partner to set up the Africa Playoffs, Morroco appeared as an obvious choice. Morocco has great history with tennis and works hard on developing talents and grassroots programs » said Thibault Ollivier, tournament director of the Africa Playoffs and Head of Events at Top Five Management.  « Together with the Moroccan Royal Federation of Tennis and the African Confederation of Tennis, we share the same ambition and desire to promote and support the development of African talents ».
